Feeding the hungry...Sheltering the homeless...Offering hope

The men, women and children who come through our doors have many physical needs—food, shelter, clothing, basic first aid.  Still their spirits are longing for compassion.

It may have been days, weeks, even months since someone offered them a smile or kind word, looked at them with anything but disgust or contempt, or showed even a hint of empathy for their circumstances.  Sometimes opening our hearts to those whose situations we don’t understand can be much more difficult than offering a blanket, a plate of food or a pair of shoes.

That’s why we are so grateful for good and faithful servants,

who share our calling to bear others’ burdens as our own.  The generosity of our friends is an outward sign of their concern for the less fortunate, and their partnership is a true blessing to the Mission . . . especially today.

Our country has been lulled into the belief that the government will take care of our population’s every need.  But caring for the poor is—as it always has been and always will be—the work of organizations like ours that offer practical ways to give hope to our area’s lost and lonely through our programs and services.

The City Rescue Mission doesn’t rely on government funding—meaning we don’t take your tax dollars!  Our income is provided directly by our donors, and 82 percent goes directly to impact the lives of men, women and children through our four major ministries at our Men’s Shelter, Covenant House Family Shelter, Sankey Youth Center and Family Care Food Bank.

Since 1911, our doors have been open, allowing us to turn compassion into action every day!

Please, won’t you join hands with us to give hope to the hungry, homeless, poor and downtrodden of western Pennsylvania?  Your gift will help us relieve their burdens, comfort them with care and love them one by one.  God bless you.

God bless you for your most generous gift today.
