Dear Friends,
I recently
received a note from a donor asking if we still teach the Gospel here at the
City Rescue Mission. While it was a
short and simple question, the letter I wrote in response took two pages to
describe all the ways that we integrate the Gospel and the teaching of the Holy
Scriptures into each of our ministries. While we
do provide “social services” that address physical needs (e.g. food or
shelter), our ultimate calling is to meet the spiritual needs of our guests and
clients. We believe that a simple offer of a good meal or a warm bed is the
beginning of a relationship where the salvation message can be shared. Hope does begin with the meal at the City Rescue Mission!
Just over the past year, the City Rescue Mission provided
shelter to 718 homeless guests. All
received loving Christian care that involved sharing the Good News in word or
deed. All of this is possible because of the generous support of individuals, businesses, churches, and foundations.
There is no better time than now to join our family of supporters. A special group of partners have issued a Matching Gift Challenge where they have agreed to match all gifts $1 for $1 up to a maximum of $85,000! Double the impact of your gift by visiting our Donate Page now! On behalf of all those that we serve, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
