Position: Guest Advisor – Education Services    Responsible to Assistant Director - Men’s Ministry (Recovery)

 

Ministry Purpose: In accordance with Ephesians 4:11-12, Philippians 2:4, and Titus 2:7-8, the Guest Advisor – Education Services oversees and manages operations of the Marshall Learning Center.

 

Primary Responsibilities: The following constitute the major responsibilities of the Guest Advisor – Education Services:

 

1)      Spiritual

The Guest Advisor – Education Services shall:

a.       Seek to be a role model in attitude, speech, and actions in a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ.

b.       Show by example the importance of Scripture memorization, Bible study, prayer, witnessing, and Christian fellowship.

c.       Integrate Biblical principles and a Christian worldview into all ministry objectives and goals.

d.       Be prepared to communicate the Mission’s religious beliefs to any who inquire.

e.       Be ready to pray with and offer spiritual advice to employees and guests.

f.        Follow Matthew 18 principles in addressing issues with employees and guests.

 

2)      Administrative

The Guest Advisor – Education Services shall:

a.       Assist the Director – Men’s Ministry in establishing policies and procedures for the Marshall Learning Center.

b.       Supervise program participants, shelter guests, and community guests in the use of computer time in the Learning Center.

c.       Review and choose curriculum for use in classes taught in the Learning Center.

d.       Oversee volunteer teachers and tutors in the Learning Center.

e.       Teach classes in the Learning Center such as Job Readiness, Basic Computer Skills, Microsoft Office, and Budgeting.

f.        Assist guests in online job searches.

g.       Assist guests in writing and updating resumes.

h.       All other duties as required.

 

3)      Qualifications

The Guest Advisor – Education Services must:

a.       Have high school diploma or GED.

b.       Minimum 3 years experience teaching computer skills.

c.       Have good interpersonal skills.

d.       Have excellent computer skills.

e.       Have good organizational skills.

f.        Be dependable and responsible.

g.       Be an active member of a local evangelical church.

h.       Be willing and able to give a Christian witness in all circumstances.

i.         Show genuine love and concern for each guest.

j.         Be willing to pray with staff, guests, volunteers, and donors when appropriate.

k.       Be in agreement with the City Rescue Mission Doctrinal Statement.
