Position:  Guest Advisor - Crossroads/Outreach

Responsible to Assistant Director - Men's Ministry (Crossroads)

 

Ministry Purpose:

In accordance with Ephesians 4:11-12, Philippians 2:4 and Titus 2:7-8, the Guest Advisor - Crossroads/Outreach manages, coordinates, and assists in procuring services for men in Crossroads Shelter Program to facilitate growth and development in accordance with case management.  The Guest Advisor - Crossroads/Outreach shall maintain the shelter cleanliness and monitor behavior of the guests.

 

Primary Responsibilities:   The following constitute the major responsibilities of the Guest Advisor - Crossroads/Outreach:

 

1) Spiritual 

a. Seek to be a role model in attitude, speech and actions in a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ.

b. Show by example the importance of Scripture memorization, Bible study, prayer, witnessing and Christian fellowship.

c. Integrate Biblical principles and a Christian worldview into all ministry objectives and goals.

d. Be prepared to communicate the Mission’s religious beliefs to any who inquire.

e. Be ready to pray with and offer spiritual advice to employees and guests.

f. Follow Matthew 18 principles in addressing issues with employees and guests.

 

2) Administrative

a. Interview all individuals who enter the Crossroads Shelter program.
b. Evaluate the information collected and make appropriate referrals to other community programs.

c. Assess the guest's service needs and discuss with the guest what the available and acceptable service options are.

d. Make referrals to the appropriate agencies for services.

e. Coordinate all services being received by the guest such as counseling (when appropriate), education, life skills, job preparation, and job search.

f. Meet with guests throughout the week as needed to schedule internal and external meetings and appointments and to monitor their progress.
g. Evaluate the effectiveness of services and outcomes.

h. Maintain current and complete case notes and records for each guest in the Mission Tracker guest tracking program in compliance with program requirements.

i. Complete weekly program statistical information and submit by deadline for compilation of monthly reports.

j. Network with related service providers within the community to access needed services for guests and ensure delivery.

k. Attend community meetings as requested.

l. Assist or perform drug and/or alcohol testing.

m. Maintain cleanliness of the shelter and facilities by assigning chores to the guests and following up with daily inspections.

n. Ensure that all rules are followed by the guests.

o. Attend staff meetings and perform other duties as requested.

 

3) Qualifications

a. Be ministry minded, passionately committed to invest in individuals, demonstrating Christ's love and grace through healthy relationships and practical assistance.

b. Be grounded in the Christian faith as a mature, active member of an evangelical church.

c. Possess strong interpersonal skills, collaborative, able to work effectively with diverse groups of people.

d. Have excellent resource acquisition, negotiation, and coordination abilities.

e. Exhibit good communication skills, written, verbal, and instructional.

f. Have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while achieving program outcomes and meeting deadlines.

g. Be adaptable, flexible, honest and perceptive.

h. Be computer literate, proficient in Word, Excel and Internet.

i. Be willing and able to give a Christian witness in all circumstances.

j. Be willing to pray with staff, guests, volunteers and donors when appropriate.

k. Be in agreement with the City Rescue Mission Doctrinal Statement.
